Human-Centered Healing: Eastern Calm, Western Clarity
Maggie Moor is the author of “I AM: Your Guide to Mind and Body Union for Total Awareness.”
A visionary healer and psychotherapist, Ms. Moor has spent the past decade helping people heal trauma and reconnect with their internal emotional lives and natural sources of energy and power. She devoted several years to Buddhist meditation practice, including concentrated study at a Varanasi temple in northern India. Based in New York, she has counseled individuals in Eastern spirituality, yoga, and integrative mind–body therapy for ten years, specializing in intimacy and relationship challenges.
Ms. Moor is a licensed psychoanalyst. Her thesis, “Coloring Outside the Lines: Defense and the Search for Identity,” was nominated for the NAAP Gradiva Award. She has worked at The Treatment Service with patients recovering from anxiety, and at Rikers Island facilitating groups for women recovering from trauma and addiction. She currently mentors teens in youth homeless shelters, with a focus on supporting women healing from sexual abuse. She also offers private counsel for couples seeking deeper intimacy with one another and within themselves. She created the book “I AM” as inspiration, health services and donation to the various centers and institutions she visits for outreach. A portion of all commercial proceeds from her book supports youth homeless centers.
As community outreach at the start of the COVID‑19 pandemic, Ms. Moor led a series of free, live talks every day for two hours at 3:33 on Facebook to help people calm anxiety, express their feelings, and sit with the unknown.
